My background as a psychotherapist involves many years of working in the NHS with people struggling with personal problems and relationship difficulties. I am qualified as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am experienced in the practice of long term, medium term and shorter term psychotherapies. I also have extensive group work experience and I have worked as a trainer and supervisor for South Trent: a specialist NHS psychotherapy training.
I offer an opportunity to talk and work in depth with personal problems. These problems may have shaped your view of yourself and had a negative impact on your outlook and your relationships. They may have given rise to symptoms such as anxiety or depression; emotions that are difficult to manage; or sometimes a sense of emptiness, or living without commitment, meaning or purpose.
I aim to provide a space that is supportive and non-judgmental where you can talk about whatever may be troubling you. Talking openly is assisted by a setting and a therapeutic relationship where it can feel possible to trust enough and feel secure enough to explore the things that have previously been associated with suffering or feeling unsafe. Part of my work will be to help us think together about the links between your past issues and current difficulties. It may also be concerned with how these issues can surface and be worked with in the therapy relationship. Psychotherapy aims to deepen your understanding of yourself, to develop trust in yourself, and to open up more life choices and personal potential.
I work from home in a ground floor room in Humberstone, Leicester. There is currently no disabled access. There is plenty of free on-street parking and I am easily accessible from the city centre. First buses no 38, 38a, and Arriva no 58, run every ten minutes and stop within 100 yards of the house.
